Rand Water Internship Programme Develops Future Infrastructure Professionals for 2026
A three-year graduate internship programme in the built environment sector is now open to unemployed graduates through a partnership between Rand Water and Govan Mbeki Local Municipality.
The initiative forms part of National Treasury’s infrastructure capacity development programme, which aims to strengthen planning, construction, and maintenance of public infrastructure in South Africa.
Selected graduates will receive practical workplace training while contributing to real infrastructure projects within municipal and water utility environments.
Applications close on 16 March 2026 at 12:00.

Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria.
- Be unemployed
- Be a South African citizen with a valid ID
- Be under the age of 35
- Hold a relevant qualification from an accredited university
- Qualification must align with professional registration requirements
Relevant professional councils include
- Engineering Council of South Africa
- South African Council for Planners
- South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions
Registration as a candidate with the relevant professional council will be an advantage.
A valid Code 08 driver’s licence may also be beneficial.
