Minimum Requirements

  • Degree qualification in Mechanical, Mining, Chemical, or a related Engineering discipline.
  • Significant experience in technical sales of capital equipment within the mining or heavy industrial sector.
  • Proven leadership experience managing technical sales teams and driving business growth.
  • Strong understanding of capital project sales cycles and complex B2B solution selling.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to build trusted relationships with customers and decision-makers at all organisational levels.
  • using CRM systems and sales pipeline management tools.
  • Willingness to travel extensively across Africa and occasionally internationally.
  • Valid driver's licence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Capital Sales Engineers across Africa.
  • Develop and execute regional sales strategies to achieve capital sales targets and business growth objectives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with mining customers, EPCM partners, consultants, and key industry stakeholders.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities across the mining and mineral processing sector.
  • Lead technical presentations, customer workshops, and value-based solution discussions.
  • Oversee the development of technically sound and commercially competitive proposals.
  • Negotiate complex commercial agreements and capital project opportunities.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer requirements to inform business strategy.
  • Maintain accurate sales forecasts, pipeline management, and performance reporting.
  • Represent FLSmidth at industry events, conferences, and customer engagements.
  • We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Head of Capital Sales Engineering – Africa to lead our Capital Sales Engineering team and drive the growth of FLSmidth's capital equipment and solutions business across the African region.
  • This leadership role combines technical expertise, strategic sales planning, and customer engagement to deliver sustainable business growth, strengthen market presence, and support customers with innovative mining solutions.
