Business Optimisation Engineer

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 or Equivalent (Essential); B.Eng Industrial Engineering (Essential)
  • Honours Industrial Engineering (Advantageous); 2 years' experience in Process Improvement environment (Essential)
  • Project Management experience (Advantageous)
  • Knowledge of mathematical modelling, simulation modelling and optimization
  • Extensive knowledge of emerging industry practices when solving business problem
  • Must be passionate and knowledgeable about continuous improvement

Responsibilities

  • Act as the intermediary between business and IT & Innovation delivery teams
  • Fulfil a cross-functional role by engaging and facilitating effective communication flow between business units
  • Provide progress and status reporting to all stakeholders
  • Obtain proficiency in operational systems relevant to projects to a level that assists with problem solving & solution design
  • Obtain specialised knowledge of areas within the business with an aim to become a subject matter expert
  • Leverage available tools & platforms for enhanced solutioning
  • Follow the lean project methodology to co-ordinate project activities: Feasibility: Understand the business need & translate this to a cost/benefit analysis to build a business case for solution feasibility
  • Initiation: Understand the business need & sufficiently scope projects for stakeholder alignment.
  • Planning: Plan project activities & engagement protocols for risk mitigation & enhanced solutioning.
  • Execution: Implement the project plan & perform quality control on solutions designed.
  • Sufficiently test implemented solutions to reduce errors & incidents.
  • Monitoring & Control: Track project progress, manage scope creep, risks & decisions.
  • Ensure change management is considered in all solutions.
  • Closure: Ensure projects are sufficiently closed with all documentation filed & lessons learnt acknowledged.
  • Ensure Change Management is incorporated in all solutions by facilitating Train the Trainers & providing implementation support
  • Design processes with the purpose of increasing productivity, eliminating waste, saving time, reducing costs
  • Innovate around problems to develop solutions that are smart, scalable, cost-effective & maintainable
  • Identify impactful business optimisation opportunities.
