Minimum Requirements

• An appropriate 3 year National Diploma/B-Degree (equivalent or higher qualification)
• A minimum of 3 years relevant experience in the disaster management field.
• Knowledge of the following: Disaster Management Act (Act 57 of 2002) as amended
• Sound stakeholder forum management
• Best practice regarding disaster management and fire rescue services
• Knowledge of and working experience with the legislation, regulatory frameworks, policies and best practices that have a bearing on the line functions
• Information systems that aid in the management of knowledge and information pertaining to the line function
• Project management, labour practices and performance management
• Operational management practices
• Procurement and tendering processes
• Recommendation N/A

Responsibilities

• Collate, compile and submit Disaster Management Annual Report and responsible for Monitoring and Evaluation related reporting
• Develop disaster management (DM) legislation and frameworks
• Coordinate Special Events and Disaster Management, disaster response, including standby duties, and coordinating media enquiries
• Responsible for capacity-building initiatives
