Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 (equivalent or higher qualification)
  • Must be in possession of a Basic Traffic Diploma
  • A minimum of 6 years experience in the field
  • A valid code A and EC driving licence
  • No Criminal record.
  • Knowledge of the following: Operational functioning of the Directorate Traffic Law Enforcement
  • National Road Traffic Act, 1996 (Act 93 of 1996)
  • Road Traffic Amendment Act, 2008 (Act 64 of 2008)
  • Firearms Control Act, 2000 (Act 60 of 2000)
  • Criminal Procedure Act, 1977 (Act 51 of 1977)
  • Firearms Control Regulations, 2004
  • National Road Traffic Regulations, 2000
  • Dimensional and Mass Limitations and the Requirements for Abnormal Load Vehicles (TRH 11)
  • Guidelines from the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and enforce Road Traffic, Public Passenger, Transport Legislation and other relevant legislations
  • Manage joint law enforcement activities and projects (co-operative governance)
  • Manage resources and provide leadership and direction to all subordinates
  • Identify and manage risks
  • Manage the performance of all administrative activities and related duties
  • Supevisory functions.
