Minimum Requirements
- An appropriate 3 year National Diploma/B-Degree (equivalent or higher qualification) in Disaster Management or relevant field
- A minimum of 3 years middle management experience .
- Knowledge of the following: Disaster Management Act (Act 57 of 2002) as amended
- Sound stakeholder forum management
- Best practice regarding disaster management and fire rescue services
- Knowledge of and working experience with the legislation, regulatory frameworks, policies and best practices that have a bearing on the line functions
- Information systems that aid in the management of knowledge and information pertaining to the line function
- Project management, labour practices and performance management
- Operational management practices
- Procurement and tendering processes
- Recommendation N/A
Responsibilities
- Co-ordinate special events in the province
- Develop disaster management (DM) legislation and frameworks
- Collate, compile and submit Disaster Management Annual Report, perform disaster response team leader function while on standby and during disaster activation
- Responsible for Monitoring and Evaluation and related reporting
- People and Financial Management
- Plan and manage the work of and account for the overall performance of the Sub-directorate
- Develop and support capacity building initiatives.
