Minimum Requirements

  • An appropriate 3 year National Diploma/B-Degree (equivalent or higher qualification) in Disaster Management or relevant field
  • A minimum of 3 years middle management experience .
  • Knowledge of the following: Disaster Management Act (Act 57 of 2002) as amended
  • Sound stakeholder forum management
  • Best practice regarding disaster management and fire rescue services
  • Knowledge of and working experience with the legislation, regulatory frameworks, policies and best practices that have a bearing on the line functions
  • Information systems that aid in the management of knowledge and information pertaining to the line function
  • Project management, labour practices and performance management
  • Operational management practices
  • Procurement and tendering processes
  • Recommendation N/A

Responsibilities

  • Co-ordinate special events in the province
  • Develop disaster management (DM) legislation and frameworks
  • Collate, compile and submit Disaster Management Annual Report, perform disaster response team leader function while on standby and during disaster activation
  • Responsible for Monitoring and Evaluation and related reporting
  • People and Financial Management
  • Plan and manage the work of and account for the overall performance of the Sub-directorate
  • Develop and support capacity building initiatives.
