Minimum Requirements

• An appropriate 3 year National Diploma/B-Degree (equivalent or higher qualification)
• A minimum of 3 years relevant experience in the disaster management or relevant field.
• Knowledge of the following: Disaster Management Act (Act 57 of 2002) as amended
• Sound stakeholder forum management
• Best practice regarding disaster management and fire rescue services
• Legislation, regulatory frameworks, policies and best practices that have a bearing on the line functions
• Information systems that aid in the management of knowledge and information pertaining to the line function
• Project management, labour practices and performance management
• Operational management practices
• Procurement and tendering processes
• Recommendation N/A

Responsibilities

• Coordinate declaration processes
• Conduct the disaster debriefings / post event analysis studies per declared disaster
• Facilitate and coordinate the disaster relief, rehabilitation, reconstruction
• Facilitate funding expenditure processes and procedures
• Responsible for report writing
• Perform disaster response team member function while on standby and during disaster activation
• Assist with the management of human resources, performance management, financial management, leadership & strategic management in the Sub-directorate.
