Minimum Requirements

  • Qualified Auto Electrician trade certification
  • Valid driver’s licence (Must have)
  • Strong electrical and electronic fault-finding skills
  • Knowledge of automotive electrical systems, ECUs, and diagnostic equipment
  • Ability to interpret wiring diagrams and technical manuals
  • Understanding of preventative maintenance principles
  • Basic computer literacy for job cards, maintenance systems, and reporting
  • Good troubleshooting, planning, and time management skills
  • Diagnose electrical and electronic faults using diagnostic tools, testing equipment, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Repair, replace, and install electrical components, including but not limited to: Alternators, starters, and battery systems
  • Wiring looms, sensors, relays, switches, and control units
  • Lighting systems, indicators, instrumentation, and dashboards
  • Electronic control systems such as ECUs, control modules, and CAN bus systems (where applicable)
  • Perform electrical repairs and troubleshooting on light vehicles,Bus, trucks, tractors, and other mobile or plant equipment.
  • Verify correct operation of systems following repairs or replacements.
  • Conduct routine electrical inspections as part of scheduled vehicle and equipment maintenance programmes.
  • Identify potential electrical failures and implement corrective actions to prevent equipment breakdowns.
  • Test, adjust, and calibrate electrical and electronic systems to ensure optimal functionality and compliance with manufacturer specifications.
  • Contribute to reducing unplanned downtime through proactive maintenance interventions.
  • Install new electrical systems, accessories, and equipment according to approved specifications and standards (e.g. radios, tracking systems, cameras, alarms, communication systems, auxiliary lighting).
