Minimum Requirements

  • B degree in Fire Technology (NQF 7)
  • Honours Degree NQF level 8 will be an added advantage
  • 12 years' work experience with relevant managerial experience
  • Affiliation with SAESI and DMISA
  • Strategic leadership skills
  • Knowledge of MFMA
  • Disaster Risk Management skills
  • Excellent communication skills both written & verbal
  • Coaching and mentoring skills

Responsibilities

  • Provide Strategic capability, leadership and co-ordination to the department
  • Develop and align the division operating model and value chain in relation to the organisational mandate in partnership with stakeholders.
  • Establish & manage strategic internal & external relationship inclusive of customers, service providers and relevant legislative agencies.
  • Translate strategic objectives into tactical service delivery plans and targets for the department in support of the organisational direction
  • Ensure that operational demands are met.
  • Drive alignment between policies, processes and systems.
  • Ensure integration of stakeholder's relationship strategies and plans, enabling effective delivery, compliance and governance.
  • Ensure governance and risk management compliance.
  • Ensure effective financial management.
  • Oversee the preparation of quarterly, annual budget and financial report in accordance with statutory and council presentation requirements.
  • Drive customer service orientation and influence batho pele aligned service level agreements development and integrate feedback to ensure continued customer satisfaction
  • Drive aligned customer service excellence culture and ensured exceptional service delivery to all stakeholders.
  • Ensure that forums exist to continuously drive partnerships, business unit practices and process delivery
  • Ensure timeous, clear contracting assessment of performance expectations with direct reports in line with organisational objectives.

  • Influence the development of clear human capability and accountability frameworks within the department in support of people management strategies.
