Minimum Requirements
- LLB or BCom Law is a compulsory qualification.
- 4 to 5 years of experience in Risk Management or Compliance, preferably within the financial services sector.
- CPrac designation is advantageous.
- In-depth knowledge of the National Credit Act (NCA) and related credit legislation to ensure full compliance across credit products and processes. Strong knowledge of case law, regulatory guidance, and industry best practice underpins the ability to provide authoritative advice and maintain the organization’s standing as a responsible credit provider.
- Ability to interpret complex legislation and translate it into actionable compliance frameworks.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify compliance risks and effective controls to be implemented.
- Deep understanding of privacy legislation (POPIA, GDPR, etc.) and practical experience in privacy risk management.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication and influencing skills to collaborate and align across legal, compliance, operational risk and business areas.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and thrive in a high-volume, high-impact environment.
- Adaptability/learning agility – to be comfortable with ambiguity, context-switching, and taking on a mix of work within the DABU space given the aggressive growth targets, and the fact that DABU owns some of its channel as well as the technology which underpins it.
- Technological proficiency (preferred).
Responsibilities
- Implement and oversee the Group’s compliance frameworks and programmes in consultation with business units.
- Ensure adherence to organizational policies and procedures, particularly regarding regulatory and ethical standards.
- Conduct regular audits, design control systems, and assist in the development and implementation of company policies.
- Control expenditure and identify process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Build and maintain working relationships across teams to promote collaboration and innovation.
- Deliver exceptional customer experience aligned with organizational values and service standards.
- Provide accurate business intelligence and analysis to improve decision-making processes.
- Develop and implement Risk Management Plans (RMPs) for core legislative and regulatory provisions.
- Monitor compliance with relevant statutory, legislative, policy, and governance requirements.
- Provide training on regulatory requirements and promote a culture of compliance awareness.
- Support business and Operational Risk teams with risk assessments across credit products, processes and systems.
- Monitor and interpret emerging credit legislation, regulatory updates, and industry best practices to ensure alignment with the National Credit Act and related frameworks.

- Provide expert guidance on legislation in compliance universe relevant to the business unit, specifically including FAIS, NCA, POPIA and FICA.
- Support business with privacy-related risk assessments including Legitimate Interest Assessments (LIA), Compatibility Assessments (CA), Privacy Impact Assessments (PIA).
- Issue management – identity self-disclosed issues and active management of issues (root cause, impact, owner and implementation timelines). Drive timely closure of issues.
