Minimum Requirements

  • Appropriate experience in management of trauma, pain and sepsis.
  • Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Dentist.
  • Grade 1: None after registration as Dentist with the HPCSA in respect of SA-qualified employees • 1-year relevant experience after registration as Dentist with a recognized foreign health professional council in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform community service, as necessary in South Africa. Grade 2: Minimum of 7 years’ appropriate experience as Dentist after registration with the HPCSA as a Dentist in respect of SA-qualified employees • Minimum of 8 years’ relevant experience after registration as Dentist with a recognized foreign health professional council in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform community service, as necessary in South Africa. Grade 3: Minimum of 12 years’ appropriate experience as Dentist after registration with the HPCSA as a Dentist in respect of SA-qualified employees • Minimum of 13 years’ relevant experience after registration as Dentist with a recognized foreign health professional council in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform community service, as necessary in South Africa.
  • Valid (code B/EB) driver’s licence.

Responsibilities

  • Screening of patients on arrival and those referred to the Academic Oral Health Centre. Record patient details. Liaising with the multidisciplinary team when required. Assess, diagnose and treat patients in a holistic manner. Treating patients under general anaesthetic and being familiar with general anaesthetic protocols. Record keeping. Responsible for compiling stats.
