The Department of Social Development, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a competent individual to render supply chain management (SCM) clerical services.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Senior Certificate or equivalent qualification).
  • Knowledge of the following: Basic knowledge of supply chain duties, practices as well as the ability to capture data, operate computer and collecting statistics; Basic knowledge and understanding of the legislative framework governing the Public Service; Basic knowledge of work procedures in terms of the working environment). Skills needed: Computer literacy in MS Office Package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); Ability to work independently and as part of a team; Communication skills (written and verbal); Planning and organising; Interpersonal relations.
  • R 237 453- R 279 708 per annum (Salary Level 5)
  • Note on remuneration in addition Service benefits or obligations for qualifying employees (medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc) are funded or co-funded interms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
  • Shortlisted candidates will be required to attend interviews on a date and time determined by the department and submit documentation for verification purposes and criminal record vetting. All shortlisted candidates shall undertake two pre-entry assessments. One will be a practical exercise to determine a candidate’s suitability based on the post’s technical and generic requirements and the other must be an integrity (ethical conduct) assessment. The selection process will be guided by the EE targets of the employing department.

  • Render demand and acquisition clerical support: Update and maintain a supplier (including contractors) database; Register suppliers on LOGIS or similar system; Request and receive quotations; Capture specification on the electronic purchasing system; Place orders; Issue and receive bid documents; Provide secretariat or logistical support during the bid consideration and contracts conclusion process; Compile draft documents as required. Render a logistical support service : Place orders for goods; Receive and verify goods from suppliers; Capture goods in registers databases; Receive request for goods from end users; Issue goods to end users; Maintain goods register; Update and maintain register and suppliers. Maintain records and information management in : Control the safekeeping of records and information within the division, in compliance with records management prescripts; Adhere to the implementation of a subdirectorate operations management system for knowledge management and organisational learning in the subdirectorate; Provide input into the directorate’s information management systems and databases.
