Lecturer: Agronomy (Elsenburg)

The Department of Agriculture, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a competent and suitably qualified individual to present practical and theoretical classes/courses to students and other role players in agriculture.

Minimum Requirements

• An appropriate 4-year BSc degree (equivalent or higher qualification); A minimum of 3 years appropriate experience; A valid (Code B or higher) driving licence. NB: People with disabilities that restrict driving abilities, but who have reasonable access to transport, may also Competencies Proven knowledge of the following: Agronomy Production; Vegetable crops produced and alternative crops produced in the Western Cape; Presentation; Verbal and Written communication skills; Computer literacy; Leadership, Planning and Organising skills; Formal training and presentation.
• R 397 116 - R 467 790 per annum (Salary level 8)
• Note on remuneration in addition service benefits or obligations for qualifying employees (medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc) are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
• Shortlisted candidates will be required to attend interviews on a date and time determined by the department and submit documentation for verification purposes and criminal record vetting. All shortlisted candidates shall undertake two pre-entry assessments. One will be a practical exercise to determine a candidate’s suitability based on the post’s technical and generic requirements and the other must be an integrity (ethical conduct) assessment. The selection process will be guided by the EE targets of the employing department.
