Scientific Technician (Production Level): Nutrition and Product Quality (Stellenbosch)

The Department of Agriculture, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a competent and suitably qualified and competent individual to provide technical support for animal production research through: assessment, evaluation, development and innovation of research and management methodologies; Maintaining animal and farm resources, and proper execution of research protocols involving production research on sheep and beef cattle.

Minimum Requirements

• An appropriate 3 year National Diploma in Animal Production or equivalent qualification; Compulsory registration with SACNASP (South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions) as a Certificated Natural Scientist in the appropriate field of practice; 3 years post qualification technical scientific experience; A valid driving licence.
• Working knowledge of the following : Wool sheep and beef cattle production systems, feedlot management and planted pastures; Programme and project management; Scientific methodologies and models; Computer-aided scientific applications; Technical report writing; Data analysis; Recommendation None.
• Develop and implement methodologies, policies, systems and procedures Provide technical support and advice; Perform technical scientific analysis and regulatory functions; Research and development; Human capital development.
• None.
